12 runners over the next 3 days
After a couple of relatively quiet weeks, the Robert Dunn stable runners are out in force again this weekend. The stable will be fielding runners in feature races at both Ashburton and Waikouaiti.
John looks at the weekend's chances
The weekend kicks off with Better Than Money in Race 8 at Winton. "He was able to dictate terms last week at Forbury and won well. Meets a couple of smart 3yr olds from the Hunter stable but sure to be chance again"
There are 5 stable runners engaged on Saturday at Ashburton. Kabet and Surfin Swift contest the Nevele R Fillies Heat Race 4. "Kabet gets an ideal draw on the back of Adore Me. Will have one run at them. Ran home strongly at last Sunday's workouts. Surfin Swift ran in the same workout and was a convincing winner. This is a very strong lineup though and will need luck to place".
Return To Sender contests the Sapling Stakes, Race 6. "He seems to have improved from his trip north. Hit the line strongly at the workouts last Sunday and work since has been good. This will be a good guage as to where we sit against some of the better ones".
Dalness and Lumos both run in race 10. "I will drive Dalness and will drive for luck, hopefully getting a 3 back sit. Is up in grade but is sure to be running on strongly. Gav drives Lumos which went a great race winning on debut Nelson. Has had some issues since, but we think we have got him sorted. May need some luck first up from the draw".
The grass track racing continues on Sunday at Waikouaiti. Kotare Kano goes round in Race 4. "He has had no luck with the draw again. Needs to be on the pace if he is to feature in the finish".
Cabo Wabo contests the boys' race, Race 6. "He has been going good races and could potentially get a good suck through from the draw. Should feature in the finish again".
Hurricane Bromac lines up against a very good field in the cup Race 8. " We were very disappointed with the two runs at Nelson. Has had a couple of workout runs and appears very well. In such a strong field, place money will be a good result".
Blazin N Cullen has his first start since the Sires Stakes on cup day in Race 9. His work has been good and he really should be winning a race such as this. Definitely our best chance over the weekend".
Neve Franco contests Race 11. "Got too far back in the running last start and also paced a bit rough. With some minor gear adjustments this week, will hopefully produce a better showing".
The last runner for a very busy weekend is Massimo in Race 12. "Dex will take the reins this time. Lost his rhythm badly on the grass at Rangiora. If he paces more generously this time would definitely be at least a place chance".
