The week in review
The last weekend was a busy one for the stable who were represented at 3 venues, Winton, Ashburton and Waikouaiti. Better Than Money was the sole representative at Winton and set up a strong tempo before being bloused out close to the line, up the passing line. A time of 2.57.8 for the journey showed that another win is close at hand.
The Nevele R heat at Ashburton was never going to be an easy ask with Adore Me a short-priced favourite. However, both stable fillies showed that they deserve to be competing at this level. Kabet stormed home for 2nd in 1.53.2 after being saved for one shot at them. Surfin Swift was very game in running 5th in 1.53.8 after sitting parked for the last 900m.
After doing a wee bit of work early, Return To Sender kicked on in fine style in the Sapling Stakes going down to Mark Purdon runners in Isaiah and Messini. All 3 were top runs and with a final half in 55.3 and quarter in 26.4, the stable were happy with the Mach Three colt's fresh up run.
Lumos a 3yr old Jereme's Jet colt produced a top run in the last of the day behind two smart types in Franco Nattai and Mighty Flying Mac.
As was the expected, Blazin N Cullen did the job in fine style at Waikouaiti dictating terms before putting away his rivals with a very smart 26.8 for the last quarter. This was his 1st start since the Sires Stakes final on Cup Day and hopefully augurs well for his new campaign.
