Stable runners fire at trials

It was a busy day for the stable at yesterday's Rangiora trials. Three unraced 2yr olds were on show and all performed up to expectations.

Mr Meddle a 2yr old Live Or Die colt finished 3rd in his heat, a comfortable two seconds under the qualifying standard.  Nikola is a 2yr old Mach Three gelding and led all the way in his qualifying trial, finishing a comfortable winner, over 3 seconds under the qualifying standard. Perhaps the best of the 2yr olds on the day though was Artismee. Artismee is a 2yr old Mach Three gelding out of the well performed mare Veecmee. Veecmee was the winner of 8 races and earned just under $100,000 in stake earnings.

Artismee assumed control just after the start, dictated terms in front and ran home stylishly, with the last 800m in 57.7 and last 400m in 28.7. He looks a progressive type over the coming weeks.

Elios and Kaiteri Bay both went round in a one win 2000m mobile. After a dawdling pace set up front, Johnny set Elios alight from the 800m, assuming control before the straight, running home in 57.6 and 27.3. This was a much improved run from his previous performance at Addington and hopefully indicates he is moving forward in the right direction.

In the same trial, Kaiteri Bay a Bettor's Delight 3yr old also showed that he is well on song for a resumption running home with good purpose for driver Jason Thomas.

In the main trial of the day, a 2000m mobile, the stable produced two runners in Ten Diamonds and Falcon Crown. Ten Diamonds was sent to the front early on and dicated terms from the front. After a bold display in front, the mare ran home in 56.3 and 27.0, a performance that bodes well for future targets. Falcon Crown  was driven quietly throughout and would clearly have derived a great deal of benefit from the run.
