A big day ahead for John at Cheviot meeting

While the stable are represented in just the two races at the annual Cheviot meeting, John has a busy day in the cart, looking to build on his good work to date.

Surfin Swift is the first of the stable runners,in Race 5. "She has gone a lot better than what her formline suggests at the last two starts. She sat outside Adore Me at Ashburton running a 1.53.8 mile and was again posted last start after going forward and hung tough on a 1.56 mile rate. The 2600m should suit better and she is definitely an each way hope if she brings her best manners".

Radar, Ten Diamonds and Samuel James all go around in the Cheviot Cup over the 3200m.  "Radar has been really consistent this time in and fought well after enjoying a good trail last start. Jason drives him and hopefully his manners give him at least a place chance again. Ten Diamonds run was quite outstanding first up after having to race in the breeze outside Dream Out Loud. She gets into this well off 10m and based on her work is at least a place chance. Samuel James continues to race consistently, Gav gets on well with him and the only real concern is coming off 25m handicap. On his best form he will be right in it".

John has picked up 9 outside drives for the day:

Race 1 - Skippy Rascal - Has been improving with every trial and workout and ran a nice 3rd without being pressured at Monday's Addington trials. Definitely an eachway chance on debut.

Race 3 - Julia Bardon - Went two really nice races on the Nelson circuits beaten narrowly on both occasions. Manners have cost at last two starts. Off the unruly this time so clearly a chance if able to get away on terms with them.

Race 4 - St Pierre -  It was a really good run first up against a nice field of 3yr olds. Dreamlover franked that form with a slashing late run in the big sales race Thursday night. The standing start the only question mark.

Race 6 - Mo Hahn - Definitely an improved run last start. Thrown in against some smart ones here so place chances probably best.

Race 8 - Venus Serena - The debut run was tops and draws well. Must be a great chance.

Race 9 - Jay Bees Grin - The run last start was much more befitting of his true ability. If he has imroved with the outing clearly a winning hope.

Race 10 - Amy's Invasion - She has been super consistent of late and is well placed for a big run.

Race 11 - Bee Tees - A good run here two starts ago. Has some speedy fillies drawn inside so will need some luck early.

Race 12 - Lochranza Franco - Made good ground after getting back at Timaru in a nice field. The draw is not ideal, but a decent chance all the same.
