Stable represented at Auckland and Westport

Stable runners are spread far and wide this Friday, with Sleepy Tripp and Robyn's Raider again going round at Alex Park and 5 stable runners heading to Westport.

Auckland Cup Night

Robyn's Raider has chosen the easier option and will go around in Race 1 in preference to the derby. The draw and class of opposition gave him no chance last week. This week he again drew poorly, but with two early scratchings, now comes into barrier 5, giving Dexter some early options. While it is no derby field, there is certainly a nice sort engaged in Franco Nattai, who has a crucial driver change this week, with Mark Purdon taking the reins. With a peak performance, Robyn's Raider is a place chance at worst.

Sleepy Tripp is really thrown in the deep end in the Group 1 Auckland Cup. Incredibly, he has come up with his 3rd straight barrier 7 draw. As with last week the only real option will be to go back and be driven for luck. He is capable of footing it with the best but will need a ton of luck in the running. Terror To Love and Themightyquinn will again dominate the betting. With his better draw, Terror To Love will be looking to reverse the Interdom Grand Final form from last Sunday.

Westport

John has headed to the coast with 5 stable runners, hoping to emulate the good form from the December circuit.

Race 1 - Graduate Under Fire - Is a newcomer to the stable. He has been running honest races around southerm tracks. His good manners however, will be nullified to a large extent having drawn 14. He must be a place chance anyway.

Race 5 - Kaiteri Bay  - Was a real nice run 1st up in a fast run race. The 2nd row draw is the real pain and Johnny will need to drive for luck. Still a good eachway chance all the same.

Race 7 - Formidable - Was superb on the coast circuit back in December with 2 wins on this track. The fresh up run at Mot in late January was poor and as a result, punters deserted him last start. If anything he hit the front too early in the straight last start, paying over $100 on the tote. He peaked on his run at the 100m, but showed the improvement that was hoped for. With a good beginning from the 20m must be a great chance.

Race 8 - Cabo Wabo - The last start run was in a good boys race field at Addington. His was a solid run and if anything he was a bit unlucky to be fair. The draw is not ideal, but he doesn't mind the grass and must be some chance of placing.

Race 9 - Rome's Burning -  Stepped well and kept them running first up when well backed. Was a good winner on that occasion. Meets some smart types here, but with his good manners again, his hopes can't be dismissed.
