Junior Drivers

After a great winning drive at Forbury a fortnight ago on Graduate Under Fire, Jase was again in the money in Rangiora's "boys" race on Caesar's Flame. Driven perfectly, the horse was saved for one run before flashing home late, running 3rd at 17-1 for the place. He drives Cullen's Spirit in the Timaru boys race on Friday night and then Cabo Wabo at Motukarara Sunday. Jason was tied for 6th in the New Zealand junior drivers champs, South Island table before Sunday's meetings. The top 6 from the North and South qualify for the finals.

Drivers and Trainers Tables

Presently the golden run continues, with the stable well placed with 72 wins and 2nd on the table, 9 wins behind the Mark Purdon stable. In the Drivers premiership, Johnny is well placed in 5th place on 71 wins, just 4 wins off his best of 75, recorded in the 2009-2010 season. If the current strike rate continues, odds are that the 100 wins for the season is a realistic goal in both categories. Meanwhile Dexter continues to dominate the premiership on 123 wins, 35 wins ahaed of the chasing bunch.

Upcoming assignments

Next Sunday, April 21, is Southern Harness Finals Day at Invercargill. After his good run in the Derby last Friday, Elios will be targeting the Group Two Southern Supremacy Stakes over 2700m. Kabet will look to continue her stunning run of form in the Group Two Nevele R/Macca Lodge Southland Oaks final over 2200m. Both races are run for $40,000.
