John's take on Motukarara and Winton

Montecrengle resumes in Race 4. "It is his 1st start since the Tuapeka Cup, nearly 6 months ago. He will definitely derive benefit out of the run, but to be fair, this is an average line-up and if anywhere near his best should be too good".

Mashika is in Race 5. "She has been disappointing . She also has a terrible draw to work with. She did go better at the trials on Monday, but will have to rely on luck to get a bit".

Massimo will be driven by "Gunman" in Race 10.  "This is his 1st run since Rangiora at the start of February. He has had one trial an went good but paced roughly. If he is better gaited today, he is a definite hope from the draw."

Cabo Wabo will also be driven by Jason, in Race 11 for the juniors. "He had to drag a flat tyre from the 1400m at Rangiora last start. If he starts well and is able to be handily placed on the fence he is a rough place chance".

Lumos  in the last went a super trial at Chertsey a fortnight ago. The trial watchers haven't missed it either - $2.40 on the fixed odds as at 9.45. "He has worked well since that good trial. I have a lot of time for this fella. The only concern, if any, is  a less than favourable second line draw".

In summary, hopefully a good day ahead, with  the Westview syndicated horses in Montecrengle and Lumos, the standouts.

Matty Williamson drives Formidable in Race 9, the Winton Businesses Cup. "I thought that he was not bad in a hot field last week. There are a few good horses in that race today, but the big track will suit and hopefully he finds the line well".

The final runner is Better Than Money in Race 10. "Unfortunately he has drawn a shocking marble. He will need all Nathan's skill this week."
