Johnny closes in on the magical 100
While it has been a week of floods, snow and generally foul weather in the south this week, it is a case of business as usual in terms of a weekend's racing for the Robert Dunn Trotting Stable. 5 stable runners head to Blenheim for the 2 day meeting, while Cullen's Spirit stays in the south for the rejigged Saturday meet at Forbury.
In terms of stable driver J R Dunn, it is also another opportunity to tick off some of the 6 winners he needs in order to gain his well deserved century of wins for the season.
John runs his eye over the stable runners
Race 6 - Comenche. "He ran two excellent seconds for us both days at Nelson after having done work. This looks a pretty good race for him again although he meets two smart ones in 3yr olds Scotlynn Jiggs and Gotta Go Yanky. Box the 3 up in a trifecta and you won't be far away".
Race 8 - Caesar's Flame and I C U Darling. "Caesar's Flame is coming off a short freshen up and seems very well. He has a good draw that hopefully we can take advantage of. A definite place chance at odds. I C U Darling went two great races at Nelson. He seems to have turned a corner and if he backs up the Nelson runs is a good hope to place also."
Race 9 - Piper Heidsieck. "He seems to thrive on these circuits. He went super the 1st day at Nelson and the tempo of race went against him on day two. Anywhere near his peak and he must be an eachway hope."
Race 10 - Lumos. "Finally drew a marble last time and was able to dictate from the front. The draw is slightly against this time, but he is very well and should be finishing better than most."
Forbury - Saturday
Race 5 - Cullens Spirit. "He had no luck at Forbury last Thursday, but showed more of his real ability at Oamaru on the Sunday. He meets a handy field and has just a fair draw. Any luck though in the run and he is definitely a place hope again at odds".
