Donegal's Guest does the job in style first up for stable

In what was his first race start since May, Donegal's Guest has delivered in style at today's Banks Peninsula trotting meeting. Backed into $3.50 favourite, the 5yr old Christian Cullen gelding was superbly driven by John Dunn after drawing awkwardly at one on the second line. He was eased out of the early speed duel, before securing a perfect run in the 1-1. Down the back things looked a little dicey as the 3 wide train started to come around. However, John was able to push out with cover over the last 600m, before delivering his big finishing burst, eventually winning by 2 lengths.

Donegal's Guest is owned by Terry McDonald and Eddie Griffin and had done all of his previous racing for the Tim Butt stable securing 4 wins from 25 starts. He was transferred over to the beach training establishment as much for a change of scenery as for anything else. John had been very bullish about the horse's chances and believes that he has the game to progress further over the next few months, as Spring racing really heats up.

Donegal's Guest a convincing first up winner for the stable
