Massimo to earn Met Multiplier Bonus
The ultra consistent Massimo will tonight become the latest recipient of the "Met Multiplier Reward." In his 14 starts at NZ Metro meetings, starting from 8 November last year, he has recorded 1 win, 2 seconds and 5 thirds.
To qualify for a Met Multiplier Reward a horse has to:
1. Start at NZMTC meetings a minimum of 15 times over a 12-month rolling period
2. Be placed 1st, or deadheat for 1st in one of those qualifying starts.
The $7500 reward is distributed - $5000 to the owner and $2500 to the trainer.
Massimo meets a field tonight that should see him very competitive from his handy draw of 4. Driven by his regular reinsman Matt Purvis, he is at the very least an eachway hope in tonight's contest.
The other stable runner on what is a quiet evening number wise, is Beaudienne Brilliance in Race 4. Having her 1st start in 6 months, this 5yr old Mach Three mare was formerly trained by Murray Brown in Invercargill. She has had 26 race starts to date for 2 wins. She is one of the immediate beneficiaries of the new handicapping system, dropping back from 2 win class to C1. John said that they, "have been pleased with he progress to date. She's had one workout and a trial at Ashburton last Tuesday where she placed 3rd against some good types. She's drawn well and while she'll improve plenty on the run, I am expecting a good showing."
