Big day for "Team Dunn" at Addington

With 13 horses in on the day and in 8 of the 12 races, it will be a massive day for Robert, John and the support team. While it will be a full on busy day, for Robert and his family, Cup Day is as good as it gets, the pinnacle of this great sport. To have two runners in this year's cup is just the icing on the cake!

John took some time out of his busy schedule to go over the stable chances:

Race 2 - The Hydroflow Graduation Series Final - Lumos

"This is the race that we have targeted with this guy for some time. He is very talented and is way better than his C1 rating. His last two starts have both been huge runs. At Rangiora, I was waiting for someone to go and they didn't, so I had to launch him. They ran home some real smart sectionals so to stick on and be beaten just under 2 lengths was a top effort. The draw has finally worked out for him this time so hopefully we may be able to sneak a good run and get over top of them. He is definitely a great eachway chance."

Race 4 - Ricoh Free-For-All - Franco Nelson and Phantom Grin.

"Both horses have been running super races. "Grin went the race of his life in the Kaikoura Cup and just keeps stepping up. Franco Nelson did the job well at Ashburton, coming home in some super fast sectionals and then hanging tough to hold out All Star Man. They have both drawn pretty good and I would like to say are both strong winning hopes, but there may be a freak in the race - Adore Me. She's a bloody good mare! That said our guys are as good as we can have them and are both there to do their best."

Race 5 - Fahey Fence Hire Handicap - Graduate Under Fire, Robyn's Raider, Massimo.

"Robyn's Raider wasn't himself last time and it was a bad race to have an off day in, with Arden Rooney breaking track records. He is a lot better horse than that. He generally steps well so if he can end up with a soft run he could well surprise. Graduate Under Fire is having his 1st start back for over 5 months. It is a tough race to resume in, but with his great manners, he can put himself in the race from the start. Whatever he does tomorrow he will improve with the run. The formline says it all with Massimo. That said, this is a big step up on what he has been meeting. Manners are always the key with him so if he does what he usually does, he will at least give himself a chance."

Race 7 - NRM Sires Stakes Final - Return To Sender.

"He's an honest wee tradesmen this guy and has done well to make the final. He's drawn out a bit in 5 so may struggle to get across them. If we can lob in behind the pace he'll keep whacking away. Its a really nice field though and I do think Geoff's fella (Tiger Tara) is the one we all have to beat."

Race 8 - Avon City Ford Mobile - Donegal's Guest and Comenche

"Again, both horses are in good form and doing a great job for us. Donegal's Guest has copped a crap draw that will make things tough for him. He was very good over the mile last time running on very well behind two top 3yr olds. If he can get a spot in the early stages then I would expect to see him right in the finish. With the likes of Anton Oliver and Saveapatrol in the race, I am sure that they are going to run along a bit. That could actually help Comenche's cause too. He was massive last time running 2.25 for the 2000m at Rangiora. He loves it when they run along so he could be one for odds."

Race 9 - Pascoes The Jewellers Mobile - Blazin N Cullen.

"I've been thrilled with Blaze this preparation. He really has run some super races and has done it tough at times as well. As you would expect with Cup Day this is a great field so he will need a lot to go his way drawn 13. If he was to get the run he is definitely a place hope at good odds."

Race 10 - The NZ Trotting Cup 2013 - Sleepy Tripp and Mach Banner.

"Its great to have both horses make the cup field, but I know that we will need luck drawn as we are off the unruly and up against the two champions (Terror To Love and Christen Me). In saying that we can't be happier with our two and I believe that both are as ready as we can have them for the 2 mile trip. I guess that that we need them to go real hard and for one of the Aussies to serve it up to the big two. Its hard to see our two as winning hopes but I believe that they are on a par with anything else in the race so definitely a place hope if they race worked out for us."

Race 12 - Blue Star Taxis Mobile - Elios

"Hopefully we are not waiting all day for our 1st winner, but if we are, I do think Elios is as good a winning chance as we have on the day. He had to miss Kaikoura because he's been messing up the stands. That was a real shame. He's drawn awkwardly but  is very well and trialled up super the other day at the cup trials. I'm expecting a big season from him so would like to think that he can be winning this 1st up."
