Franco Nelson on song for Founders Cup

A stunning winner at Alexandra Park last week on the first of December's premier nights, Franco Nelson looks to frank that form in one of the feature races on the night, the Grp 3 Founders Cup. Allowed to slide early from his wide draw to an uncontested lead, John snuck some cheap sectionals in the mid stages, before powering home over the last 800m in 56.6, the last 400m in 27.3. He was a convincing winner by 2 3/4 lengths.

Franco Nelson looks set to start a short priced favourite in the Grp 3 Founders Cup

This was the horse's 3 win from just 4 starts on the track. The way he went to the line would suggest that even though there are a few new runners this week, that they will need to be on their game to match this 4yr old, imposing son of Christian Cullen.

The other impressive runner last Friday was another 4yr old in Elios. Driven hard out of the gate last week, Elios "went to war" with boom 3yr old Locharburn. After a sub 40 second lead time, it was testament to the ability and  toughness of the two that they were still battling out the major spoils at the end. "He really dug deep," said John. "He's probably surprised a few who may have doubted his toughness previously. I know there are some nice types that he faces again, but he'll be driven positively and providing he backs up should be tough to beat."

Elios an outstanding win in his track debut last week, looks to back up that form.

Other runners for the stable are Hurricane Bromac who will also contest the Founders Cup and Return To Sender who was the 3rd winning runner for the stable last week and must be a strong hope again from his good draw this week.
