Say My Name impresses at trials

Purchased by longtime stable client Ross Gordon at last year's Premier Yearling Sales in Christchurch, Say My Name, looks an exciting prospect for the stable as the age group racing looks to get going.

Say My Name - 2 B c Art Major - Shakeilah, was purchased by Ross for $77,500. At the time Robert commented. "He is a big horse. Finally Ross has got away from the Cullens. He is an incredibly athletic type and a great walker. He also has a low resting heart-rate. He will definitely get up and running early."

The colt qualified in style at last week's Rangiora trials, 2.33.9 for the mobile 2000m. He was privately timed to run home the last 800m in 56.8 after getting well back from a wide gate. He was rapidly taking ground out of fellow qualifier and stablemate Joey Maguire (3 Br c Art Major - Bhutan).

Say My Name runs an impressive 2nd to stablemate Joey Maguire when qualifying at Rangiora.

John then took the colt to yesterday's Ashburton trials, where again he impressed in running 2nd to high profile Falcon Seelster colt The Jazz Man. He was beaten a length with the mile trip covered in 2.01.9, the last 800m in 57.7, the last 400min 27.1.

He is one that we look forward to following the progress of over the coming weeks, with races such as the Group 3 Sapling Stakes no doubt firmly on the radar.
