Lifesofine tops off a good night for stable runners

As indicated by John in his preview for tonight's meeting, if the "real" Lifesofine was to turn up, he would be a "great chance at some nice odds." Well turn up he did, defeating a handy C3-C4 field in style in a sensational 2.20 for the 1950m. Coming home in 800m 56.4 and 400m 27.5, the others had little chance as he dominated from the front for Dexter.

Owned by Pat O'Brien, Lifesofine was sent to the Woodend stable to help with some of the issues that had been inhibiting his peformance. He wasted little time in impressing John with his ability. "He's the closest that we have to Franco Nelson on the beach speed wise." The issue that has been perplexing his trainers was a series of ordinary perfomances after some nice runs. Tonight he appeared to enjoy setting his own terms out in front and the style of his win indicates that it should not be his last for the stable.

Lifesofine a dominant winner in a 1.55.5 mile rate

Earlier in the evening,  Mr Meddle impressed after a perfectly executed drive by Dexter. After leading out, he trailled, before finding himself 3 back the markers. While clearly full of running on the the turn, he was only extricated from a tight spot 100m out and simply flew to run down favourite Blingiton. Owned by the Sparks' the horse's formline was modest to say the least in his first three starts - 000! That said, John has always had some time for the horse, who had trialled well before missing 1st up last Friday at Methven. Congratulations to connections.

Mr Meddle a maiden winner at start 4 of his career

The other notable run for the night from the stable was 3yr old trotter All Royal GalAfter knuckling over at the start she quickly recovered to take a handy spot on the markers. After a number of lead changes, she was awkwardly placed coming to the 500m as Astral Traveller applied a heap of pressure up front. While that runner was coasting away to a huge win, John was plotting a path for his charge that eventually finished strongly into 2nd place. A 2nd win looks imminent for this filly.
