Our Johnny is one "Real Cool Dude!"

What a weekend it has been for one J R Dunn. The right-hand man to his dad Robert, he enjoyed a very special night on Friday, guiding home stable runner and favourite, Elios in the Group One Messenger. This success was made even sweeter, with brother Dexter going down narrowly after a great home stretch battle on fellow stable runner Franco Nelson. Things don't get much better than this in racing and it is easy to imagine the huge smile on the face of dad "RJ" and mum Rose.

Just 18 hours later and John was at it again, continuing his stunning partnership with champion filly Venus Serena in the Group One Nevele R fillies final. This was the 8th win from her last nine starts from this incredible girl. Her only miss was in the Sires Stakes fillies final on New Years eve in a rough house affair. While Ideal Belle appeared an unlucky second you can't take anything away from the Geoff Dunn trained filly. All she needs is a suitable draw in the jewels at the end of the month to complete a near perfect season.

Not content with another Group One, John added two other victories for the day - the Tony Barron trained Christy Breanna and the Craig and Aimee Edmonds trained Kincaslough. The win with Kincaslough was further notable as the first winner in her training career for Aimee.

After such a successful two days you could excuse John if he decided to miss a more low key Timaru meeting today.....but no! The truck was loaded up with 4 stable runners that proved competitive on the track - one second and two thirds. To top things off, John reined home Real Cool Dude that was having just its second race start, completing a five win bag for the weekend. "You're not bad are you mate! In fact you're a harness racing real cool dude!
