Franco Nelson gets home for Dexter in Emerald
While the draw was against, the class of Franco Nelson was again to the fore in the 4yr old Emerald, last race on another successful Jewels day. Obliged to race in the back half of the field for the first 800m, Dexter allowed the Christian Cullen entire to amble forward. He was then forced to race 3 and 4 wide for the next 500m and was the widest runner as they turned for home. Once straightened up he powered home and got up a narrow, but impressive winner over one of the favoured runners in Major Star.

Franco Nelson has done a magnificent job this season for owners Clive, Rona and Sharon McKay. His 17 starts this season have produced 5 wins, 5 seconds and 3 thirds. He looks sure to be a major contender come cup time in November.
Stablemate Elios had no luck from his wide backrow draw. He ran home with purpose to finish in the midfield. He too has had a magnificent season and will step up to the challenge of cup class in the new season.
