John heading south

With a quieter week closer to home this week, John is heading down to Thursday night's Forbury meeting. With 86 wins for the season, John is well placed for back to back seasons of 100 plus wins. He has a number of catch drives for the night. We look at how they are placed:

Race 2 John drives Cut Loose for the Paul Kerr stable. Little went right for this guy last week when he was confidently backed. The wide draw could be a help here and he certainly looks far from a forlorn hope.

Race 3 sees John combine with Phil Vermeulen's Cleos A Badgirl. She is a very honest filly and her last two efforts suggest a win could be close at hand. It is certainly not a field of any great depth.

Race 5 John combines with Sundon's Comet, for Michael Cunningham. On his day, this guy is a very smart trotter. Take notice of his last show of form 3 starts back, when 2nd to Alley Way.

Race 6 John again drives for the Kerrs. This time with nice 3yr old Alta Jerome. He was impressive first up and for me, this looks a race in two, with Dexter and Speights Girl the toughest rival.

Race 8 John's drive is impressive last start winner in Amelia Pond, for Robert Anderson. She came from the clouds to win last week for Dexter. She must at least rate a place hope again here.

Race 9  John will drive Hudson Sully for Bruce Negus. He has been very consistent of late and in what appears a very even line-up is a strong eachway hope.

Race 10 and another one for Michael Cunnigham in Ares. This horse has always had a motor and from a handy draw is sure to lead. He will take a power of running down and looks one of John's best for the night.

Race 11 and John drives Deb's Pal for Dallas Paterson in the claimer. The formline is good, but there are a few nice sorts in here so place chances are best here.

Race 12 and it is Face Value for Ray Hansen to finish the night. Generally a well mannered type, Face Value was spotted charging home for 4th last time. He is a good place hope at odds here.
