Take a bow Tim Williams

Former employee and long-term friend of the Robert Dunn stable Tim Williams, had a day that he will never forget at today's Wairio meet. Originally going south for the one drive - NZ Cup aspirant Fly Like An Eagle - Williams eventually ended up with a very handy looking seven drive book. Never in his wildest dreams though would he have thought that he would drive six winners with his other drive a close third!

Tim's first drive was 15 start maiden Dark Dana for Geoff Knight. After pulling back from a wide draw, Dark Dana was still last and wide turning for home but came with a paralysing run to get home at odds of 9-1.

In Race Two he combined with smart 3yr old Oneover for Paul and Mitchell Kerr. After blasting the gate early, he then elected to take a trail before powering home up the passing lane in 1.56.6. A race later and it was again a partnership with a Kerr runner Ode To Success. After enjoying a nice trail behind the pace-maker Martini, he found clear air into the straight and powered to victory by over 2 lengths.

With no drives in Race 4 or 5, it was more of the same in Race 6, leading all the way on Rockahula Arden having its second start for Tony Stratford. This win was followed up in emphatic fashion in Race 7 as Fly Like An Eagle destroyed his opponents in a 1.53.9 mile win. Tim's final win came with the Cran Dalgety Margarita, another to lead all of the way.

Going into the last race, there was an opportunity to enter the history books alongside harness legend Tony Herlihy with a seven win bag. Driving for Dalgety again, his charge Tenancious Bromac gave  a great sight only relinquishing its lead over the last 150m but still  fighting hard for third.

Todays six winners are a career first for Williams and he joins an exclusive club that have achieved such a feat. Well done mate! Savour this success. I'm picking that this will be a day you won't be forgetting for a long time!
