No Doctor Needed on song for Cup Week

Impressive Mach Three 4yr old No Doctor Needed looked ready for his cup week assignments, delivering a "freebie" victory on Friday at Addington in the hands of Matt Purvis. Resuming after a five month break, last season's Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes winner had to be good, obliged to sit outside pacemaker Someardensomewhere throughout. He proved equal to the task, powering to the lead on the turn and then digging tough over the last 200m to hold on by 3/4 length. The overall time for the 1950m was 2.20, home 800m in 56 and last 400m in 28.6, on a 1.55.5 mile rate.

This was the son of Molly Darling's 5th win from just eight starts. He has been well placed by connections and enters cup week as a C2 horse. While it was the horse's first start for some time he was well ready for his resumption, having had three workouts and a trial.

Plans past cup week are unclear at present and he may join a large contingent likely to head north over Xmas and New Year. With a huge number of opportunities for the 4yr olds in the second half of the season, he will be given his chance to again match up to the best of his age group.
