Cup Day at a glance

While clearly it was the run of Franco Nelson in the cup that caused the most excitement, lets look at the performances on the day from the stable and survey their hopes for Friday:

Donegal Jimmy Dave - 6th - The second line draw was always going to make it tough. He went forward from the mile, but was posted 3 wide without cover from there. He stuck on very well for his 6th placing.

Jivin Cullen - 7th - Worked hard to lead early and was eventually given a nice trail from the 2000m. Was held up around the bend turning for home by the tiring Venus Serena. Once in the clear battled to the line resolutely for his 7th placing.

Show Day: Draws 4 over the mile. This does look a drop in overall depth and providing he backs up he will be a place hope in this field.

Graduate Under Fire -  5th - Trailled and then raced 3 back the fence. Was slightly held up turning for home and made ground strongly for 5th.

Show Day: Draws favourably over the 1950m. Looks a great place hope.

Return To Sender - 9th - Had a hard trip parked throughout. Peaked on his run at the 200m and was a well beaten 9th.

Show Day: Draws wide out over the 1950m. If he can get over early from the draw would be a rough place hope.

Lumos - 5th - Got back from 2nd line draw. Finished off his race strongly out wide for his 5th placing.

Show Day: Has drawn 5 over the 2600m. Meets a hot field. Probably place chances best again.

I've Got This - 2nd - Trotted strongly throughout and only succumbed late to a nice one in Prince Fearless. A top run. Misses Friday.

Price Of Fame - 4th -   His was a really strong run for 4th after having little luck. He's been going super races.

Show Day: Back to a mobile and from an awkward 2nd line draw. Place hopes best from the draw.

No Doctor Needed - 1st - Continued his fine run of form, leading and kicking hard for his win. John felt that he knocked off a bit probably distracted by the big crowd.

Show Day: Draws ok in what is again a strong field. Will acquit himself very well again and looks the best for the day.

Joey Maguire - 4th - Really good run powering home after clearing a pocket late.

Show Day: Horror draw and will need luck to feature.
