3 year olds trek south to Wairio
John continues a heavy period of travelling today as he heads south to the Wairio meeting with three of the stable 3yr olds in Tintinara, Jay Dub and Highview Freddy. All three are last start winners and appear great chances to add to their tally today.
Highview Freddy appears to be finally realising his potential with wins in two of his last three starts. He gets a good draw over the 2400m and will be given every chance. The main dangers would appear to be southerners in Nureyev, Milligan and Machjagger.
Jay Dub was first up for the Robert Dunn stable last time and in John's words, "did it very easy," in winning on the grass at Methven. He too has drawn well, cops a favoured mile trip and is already a winner on the course at two. He looks set to start a very short-priced favourite here.
The final runner for the stable is filly Tintinara, which finally got her maiden win last time out, albeit narrowly. She has drawn well over the mile, but things won't be easy with proven southern mares in Sheeza Shark, Luminesce and McCovey Cove in the field too. John is hoping that he may be able to drive the filly with a sit this time, as to better utilise the high speed she possesses, however, tactics early in the race will decide this.
John has four other drives today with First Son in Race Two the best of these.
