The year finishes on strong note for stable

With Robert and John up north with a big team, it has been left to some of the younger staff to do their bit for the stable back at home. How appropriate it was then that the last winner trained by the stable for the year, was driven by stable junior reinsman Matt Purvis. Given a perfect run in the trail by Matt, She's Got It looked a huge chance turning for home. Once given the passing lane opportunity, she burst to the lead at the 200m and held on strongly from a fast finisher in Take After Me. The 5yr old Bettor's Delight mare was recording her second win in 35 starts.

Meanwhile, up in Auckland earlier in the day, Wesley Silcox showed what a very good racehorse he is taking out the first of the day after an injury enforced break. Forced to do a lot of work early, he recieved a nice 1-1 trip for the last lap and came with an undeniable finish in the straight to win by 1/2 neck in 2.42.9 for the 2200m.  The manner of his victory suggests there is much more to come from this lightly raced Courage Under Fire gelding.

Other stable runners to perform well on the day included:

I've Got This - placed third behind Mum's Pride and Paramount Queen after racing without cover for much of the race.

Robbie Burns - placed third after a long spell and having done a power of work in the race. There were no doubt big smiles all around after this performance.

Miss Daisy - ran a very respectable 7th in the Sires Stakes final for the fillies recording a time of 2.39.9. Watch out for her back to maiden company next time.

Since Xmas the Robert Dunn stable have recorded seven wins and now sit 2nd on the trainers premiership, 25 wins behind the Purdon/Rasmussen team, while sitting 5 wins ahead of Cran Dalgety.

For the stable's two main drivers, it has been a good week. John has recorded five wins, and Sam seven, including a hattrick at Motukarara on the 29th.

Onwards and upwards we go. We trust that 2015 will be a good year for the stable and a happy and safe one for all in the industry.
