Its hattrick Sam again at Mot

Motukarara is quickly becoming the favourite track of stable driver Sam Ottley who has completed back to back hattricks on the track.

Sam's day started well with an early win on the Barry Ward trained filly Bird Of Paradise. The well bred filly had been out of form for some time, but a 4th placing last Friday at Addington suggested that she was turning a corner. Driven "cold" today by Sam, she came with a paralysing burst down the outside to win convincingly by 4 lengths paying 8-1 on the tote.

The next race Sam partnered strable runner Miami Heat. This Washington VC colt had shown some encouraging signs of late but was still at a healthy $10 on the tote. Given a handy sit 3 back for most of the race, Sam angled the 3yr old out at the 200m and he came with an undeniable burst to win going away by 2 lengths.

Sam and impressive maiden winner for the stable in Miami Heat

The hattrick for Sam was completed three races later as she combined with the Andrew Stuart trained Sailing On, which following the earlier successful recipe powered home down centre track to win by a length going away.

Luck deserted Sam in her other drives for the day, although Madiba Magic was a strong finishing 4th in the main race of the day after getting back in the running.

Sam has five drives on the first day of the two day Marlborough meeting tomorrow.
