Westview nab another good one
The subject of a lot of confidence on the day, maiden debutante Living Legend delivered in style at Motukarara yesterday. The 4yr old Live Or Die gelding was purchased last month by Nigel Armstrong on the back of a handy workout performance at Rangiora. He was then syndicated and raced yesterday under the banner of the Westview Racing No. 13 Syndicate.
Armstong and his Westview brand are well known in Canterbury racing circles and have been a mechanism for many first time horse owners to own a wee slice of a winner. "Ross Houghton drove him for us in a workout and liked what he felt," relayed Armstrong, "so we bought him!"
In the last few weeks, the horse had won a workout and run a nice second at the trials. In what appeared a weakish field on paper, confidence levels were high for a winning debut. Taken to the front early by Houghton, the horse also looked to be travelling within himself. As soon as they turned for home and he was asked for some more, the response was instant. He ran away to win comfortably by 4 lengths. He certainly looks as though the win won't be his last.
