Boom Gate gets easy kill in junior race

Rising stable star Boom Gate continued an impressive run of form of late, dominating last night's "boys" race at Addington for stable junior Matt Purvis. As winners go, they do not come much easier than this. After getting a soft lead early, Purvis was able to back off through a middle half in 66 seconds - something that you rarely see in junior driver races at Addington. It was no surprise then that he was able to "boom" home in 800m 56.1 and 400m in 26.3, a stunning sectional helped by the strong southerly up the straight.

For driver Matt Purvis this was win 11 from just 92 drives for the season. For Boom Gate this was win three for this season and was the 5th win of his 20 start career.

Sent to the beach due to soundness issues, he has thrived in the environment. "Yea he loves the beach, but it has probably been the pool that has been his big help," reflected Purvis. "He really enjoys the pool."

Purvis also commented that soundness wise, "he would be the best that he has been since we have had him at Woodend."

It would be no surprise then to see this great run of form continue over the next month or two.
