DJD and Dan bring up new season mark for stable
The win of Donegal Jimmy Dave at yesterday's Rangiora meeting gave the Robert Dunn stable win 104 for the 2014-2015 season, a new best, toppling the 103 wins of last season.
Driven by amateur driver Daniel Reardon who has mark quite a mark himself in the amateur ranks this season, Donegal Jimmy Dave was kept out of the early rush for positions. However, when the pace slackened at the 1000m, Reardon asked the 4yr old Ohoka Arizona gelding for his best efffort and they zipped around to dispute the pace. After eyeballing pacemaker Scanreco Bay from the 800m, the two engaged in a two horse race from there. In a driving finish it was Donegal Jimmy Dave that got his nose in front of a very brave Scanreco Bay. This was the horse's 4th win from 26 starts with a further 7 placings along the way. While it was a late winter meet and in amateur driver's company, the manner of his win suggests that he may be able to go onto better things this campaign. The 2000m mobile was cut out in 2.29.4, the last 800m in 56.9 and the last 400m in 28.7.

On Friday night at Addington it was impressive debutante Franco Cristiano that caught the eye of many and suggested that a big 3yr old campaign may lay ahead.
A 2yr old Bettors' Delight gelding, Franco Cristiano was confidently backed on the night and started a red hot favourite on the back of an impressive trial win the week before. He was allowed to find his feet early before racing parked from the 1400m. After mastering the pacemaker Millwood Charlie at the 400m, he powered to the lead for Sam turning from home and showed some real heart to stave off any would be challengers. The manner of the win would suggest that he will be another stable runner to follow with interest through the spring.
