Franco Cristiano looking to maintain unbeaten record

Impressive in his two race starts to date, Franco Cristiano looks to take another step forward at Addington tonight. A late season 2yr old winner on the track in convincing fashion, the Bettor's Delight gelding then ventured south to Gore for an equally convincing first win as a 3yr old.

Tonight's race is another step up, but everything that he has done to date suggests that he is equal to the task. While he meets some seasoned performers on this occasion, a handy frontline draw should see him well placed early on and be a chance to dominate the race from the top.

Safely through tonight's race, other targets will be assessed, but a start in upcoming Sires' Stakes heats is the most likely scenario.

Another great chance for the Robert Dunn stable tonight is Bettor's Power. This 3yr old gelding has shown steady improvement in all four race starts and was a game third last time out at Timaru in a blanket finish. After doing it tough, sitting in the breeze for most of the race, he fought strongly for John to go down by a narrow margin. While a widish draw is a concern here, he does look up to any of these on pure ability and rates as a great eachway hope.

The two other runners for this evening are Donegal Jimmy Dave in Race 6 and Mr Meddle in Race 9. Donegal Jimmy Dave has just battled of late, but from a handy second line draw he may get a soft run on the markers. On his best form he would certainly rate as a place hope. Mr Meddle had no luck last week after a good win the start before. He is drawn well enough in a field that has a bit of quality to it. If he secured a soft run, he too could lob into the placings at nice odds.
