Stroganoff has taste of success in qualifier

Yesterday's Rangiora trials were run in appalling conditions and on a slushy track. However, before the track had deteriorated too much, the stable produced Stroganoff to impressively win a qualifier by almost 3 lengths in 2.36 for the 2000m mobile. Owned by Ray and Maureen Beale of Hilderthorpe, Stoganoff is the the second foal out of So Green, also raced by the Beales. A 3yr old Mister Big gelding, Stroganoff is likely to have another trial next week before being launched in his race career in early October.

There were four other runners on the day:

Little Rascal placed 3rd in his heat over the 2000m stand. John was pleased with his effort and all going to plan he will resume on premier night in a fortnight.

Night Fury and stable newcomer Bourbon And Dry contested a maiden trot heat and John was happy with the efforts each produced. Night Fury is likely to debut at Timaru  next week, while Bourbon And Dry will go to Rangiora the week after.

Uncas dealt to a nice field of trotters in the last heat of the day. He has come up very well and appears a lot sounder this time in. He will probably line up against the better trotters in a fortnight also.
