Little Rascal rewarded for consistency

Little Rascal showed himself to be a progressive type for the summer with a convincing win over a good field of C2-C3 pacers. A 4yr old gelding by Panspacificflight, Little Rascal is one of the most conisistent pacers going around and yesterday was win five from 23 starts and he has already banked $67,000.

In Friday's lead-up race, Little Rascal drew bad over the 1950m, having to work very hard to lead early before going under late to Motu Pemier and Piccadilly Princess from the All Stars. From a slightly better draw yesterday, most expected that John would go forward however, with a lot of speed inside him he stayed out of that early battle. He was instead able to work into a nice spot three back on the outside. With plenty of pace up front, John was able to leave his run until the 700m when the challenges started to come. After sweeping up wide on the turn, he ran to the lead from the 200m and was driven out to a well earned win by two lengths in a smart 2.21 for the 1950m, a mile rate of 1.56.3, home in 800m 57.4 and the last 400m 28.5.

Owned by Ian Dobson, it could be exciting times ahead. He has already proven his ability the right-handed way of Alexandra Park winning his first four races up there and has the speed and staying powess needed to go to the next level.

In the same race, the other two stable runners both performed with credit also. Living Legend engaged in a torrrid battle up front to hold the front and was then pressured through much of the race. To fight on like he did for his 5th place was a good tough effort. The Royal Garden who had got into difficulty looking for runs from the 600m also charged home late for 4th and he too is in a good run of form.
