John steals Oamaru feature with Cullect A Guinness

After a short blip on the formline over the last few starts, it was back to business for Cullect A Guinness in the day's feature at Oamaru on Saturday.

Having his first start on the grass, the Gotta Go Cullect 5yr old made a safe beginning and was then sent forward by John to assume the top after 700m. Allowed to get all his own terms in front, it was apparent a long way out that it would take a good one to run past him. John turned things up a gear from the 800m and had them all flat chasing. A final 800m in 56.0 and 400m in an incredible 26.4 on the grass, put paid to any others' chances. It was a superb drive by John and showed what a different horse Cullect A Guiness is when in front and allowed to roll.

Owned by his breeder Peter Higinbottom, Cullect A Guinness continues to do a great job. Saturday's win was his 5th from just 12 starts and with a further five placings he has never been far away.
