The Addington wrap
We were supposed to have the four runners at Addington last night but after an unfortunate incident just before the mobile despatch in the first, we were soon down to three.
Donegal Jimmy Dave was set to start a dominating favourite with Alan Edge in the amateurs, but after making contact with the mobile arm both it and Alan hit the deck, resulting in a late scratching. It would be fair to say that both horse and driver had seen better days.
Mr Meddle was expected to run a handy race in Race 5 with Dexter up. However, after blasting the gate early and securing a nice trail he almost caused the upset of the night going down by a length to the impressive Maverick. This was a much improved run and as he now drops back a grade, his next win should not be far away. The Royal Garden ran on fairly for 6th after getting back.
Mr Meddle will pay to follow over the holiday period after dropping back a grade
A couple of races later and it was the turn of Uncas in his last New Zealand start before heading to Australia. After stepping well he settled in towards the back of the field and was relegated to last with a round to go. He was launched by John three wide at the 800m and loomed up large on the turn with his challenge. He never flinched in the run to the line, eventually finishing a game 4th, just over two lengths behind an impressive The Earth Moved.
We wish Uncas all the best in Australia and if his manners are good he should be able to make an impression over there fairly quickly.
