End of the road for Elios
The career of top pacer Elios appears over after having gone amiss again.
Having not started since March, in the 2015 Auckland Cup, Elios had been brought along quietly in his current campaign and all signs were good as he looked to make his resumption at Addington this Friday. Two quiet trials showed that he had lost little of the great talent that saw him victorious in the 2014 Messenger at Group One level.

Co-trainer John was rather downcast yesterday when I spoke to him. "Its the owners that I feel gutted for," said John.
"They have been so patient and understanding and it would have been great to see him back somewhere near his best again. Unfortunately though he has gone again in the tendon and it looks like this time that he is all done."
Elios raced 28 times, recording 10 wins and 8 placings for $220,000 in stake-earnings. The highlight of his short career was his Messenger win where he defeated stablemate Franco Nelson in 3.17.4 for the 2700m.
Other notable efforts included:
A second placing behind Besotted in the Taylor Mile (Group One) after working hard from a bad draw (Adore Me 3rd)
A victory over Christen Me in the Group Two Cambridge Futurity
A win in the Group Two Southern Supremacy during his three year old season.
If this is the end for Elios, it was great to follow your career and enjoy your retirement!
