Bullet completes double for the meeting
While he has had a lot of bad luck this season and a succession of bad draws have compromised his efforts, the win of Bite The Bullet yesterday saw him overcome both as he dominated a nice C1 field.
Caught wide early John elected to keep pushing forward. However, it was not until the 1500m that he was finally able to get to the front, having done a fair amount of work to get there. After a quick breather, he was then closely attended by favourite Kompressor down the back straight and the speed again increased appreciably. As they turned for home these two runners were locked together and looked set to fight things out. In behind, Nek Time and Carckabella were both looking for their chances also. However, when John went for his fella, the response was instant and he immediately put the winning break on his opposition, pulling away to win by one and a quarter lengths in 2.50.5 for the 2300m mobile, running home in quick sectionals - 800m 55.9 and 400m 27.9.
Yesterday's win was the third of Bite The Bullet's career, all three wins coming in his last four starts. It is great seeing him finally realising the potential that he has, his stakes now rising to $28,954.
Bite The Bullet completes a great two days for the stable
The win of Bite The Bullet was the 6th of the weekend for the stable. However, yesterday there were some pretty nice placed efforts from the team also:
Angel Of Destiny - 2nd after leading and fighting hard for placing
Cmeerock - 2nd after working to lead and fighting hard after being challenged
Kotare Yael - a really tough effort for second after breezing outside hotpot Innocent Artist throughout. He is really in the zone at present.
From a driving point of view, it was Dexter that stole the show driving the five winners - Allineedisamiracle, Cherry Evans, Runaway Star, Innocent Artist and Alpha Rock as he heads towards another premisership. John remains his closest challenger, but is still 46 wins adrift in clear second.
