Pembrook Harry gets maiden win at Manawatu
A horse always rated within the stable, Pembrook Harry delivered in style in his first start at the Manawatu last evening. Drawn well enough, Pembrook Harry was sent forward early on by John and quickly assumed the lead position. He always looked to be travelling sweetly in front and gave the necessary effort that John was looking for turning for home, eventually running out a comfortable winner by two and a quarter lengths in 2.33.3 for the 2000m mobile.
Somewhat of a frustrating horse in the first half of his career to date, Pembrook Harry has been a lot more consistent since racing on the all weather surfaces. A good 2nd four starts ago, Pembrook Harry ran a nice 4th at Ashburton prior to last night's victory. He now looks likely to fulfil some of the confidence shown in him previously. Providing he draws well on the second day, look for a good performance from him again.
