Dancing In The Dark big chance to turn around blackbooker 5th
As far as stable runners go over the last month, you should look no further than Dancing In The Dark in terms of unlucky performances. Today she contests another race in the Southern Belle series at Wyndham and with a little bit of luck she can be a great winning hope.
Dancing In The Dark has been in South over the past five weeks and in her four starts, all in mares company she has done a great job. However, it was her last start 5th when a certainty beaten that suggests a big winning hope today, on the big Wyndham track.
In last week's event, Dancing In The Dark occupied a forward position early, before being pushed back to near last at the 400m after a lot of moves in the race. On that occasion, driver Matt Purvis plotted an economic path home after realising the hopeless position that he was in, going down just over a length in what must have been the fastest 400m run in the race.
The secret to this mare's best runs seems to be keeping out of the early burn and then using her big sprint later in the race. Drawn handily again today, she looks a great hope in a very even field, particularly if she can be handy enough to the leaders starting the last 400m. Toughest to beat in today's event are probably the Paul Court trained RR Sand Dollar and the Regan Todd trained Kayteeoh Denario.
The other stable runner in today and also in a great patch of form is Highview Freddy. A leader in his two previous starts off the mobile gate, he has run two really good seconds after being gunned down only in the last 50m. Back to a stand today and off 20m, it will see a change in tactics, but with all of his five wins coming from the stand start and with a very in form Dexter Dunn to drive, he must be a good eachway hope today again and at handy odds. In form filly Seaswift Franco must definitely be the one to beat in her first stand start.
