Bite The Bullet looking for another cup win

The winner of the Kurow Cup at the start of the current season, Bite The Bullet has raced consistently since then. He looms as the main danger to hot favourite Eamon Maguire in today's Tuapeka Cup.

Last weekend Bite The Bullet took on two of the big hitters in this year's New Zealand Cup considerations in Titan Banner and Dream About Me in the Methven Cup. After stepping well, he became pocketed five and six back on the inside and turning for home had the whole field in front of him. He ran home very well in cramped quarters to finish up in 7th place, just on eight lengths behind Titan Banner.

Today's Tuapeka Cup does look a big drop in company for the Mach Three five year old, which will start from the 20m handicap today, 10m in front of the favourite. Two starts ago, he was a good second to stablemate Robbie Burns at Addington in a fast run 2600m, the start previous to that he was also a good second behind Whittaker.

What has been a hallmark of his perfromances this time in has been his good stand start manners and if he has an advantage over the fresh up Eamon Maguire today, this is where it may be. Eamon Maguire is having his first stand start today.

The chances in the race don't end there though, with the southerners Young Conqueror, It Ain't The Money and The Manipulator all in good form.

John has four other drives today, with Dream Big and Millwood Daisy the best of these.
