Diamonds N Cash too good first up in south

The well bred Diamonds N Cash was well supported today at Methven after two good runs in the north. After enjoying a good run on the markers throughout, he finished too strongly for the opposition recording his maiden win at his third race start.

Away well enough in his first stand start, Diamonds N Cash was able to enjoy a nice run three back on the markers throughout. The gaps started to appear before the field turned for home and John was quickly off the rails and up challenging four wide. He then chased the pacemaker Playa Vista for the length of the straight, gaining the ascendancy inside the last 50m and going on to win by three quarters of a length.

The 10th live foal out of Diamonds N Gold, this has been a good breed, with seven individual winners, with Golden Delight (7 wins) and Maid In Splendour (4 wins) the most successful. Diamonds N Cash should be easy to place on the grass track circuit over the summer.

John enjoyed another good day in the cart, with placings in the day's features - Alta Orlando (3rd behind A G's White Socks) and Harriet Of Mot (2nd behind Everybody Knows). Take After Me ran another good placing, finishing second in the last.
