These girls love to dream

Undoubtedly the most consistent mare to go around Addington this season, Lovetodream has done a fantastic job for her owners Shirley Cummings, Suzanne Williams and Keryn Woodham. After a run of eight placings, she finally recorded a win at Motukarara a fortnight ago. At Addington this evening, she recorded her second win on the bounce, defeating the two favourites Don Domingo and Maverick, showing great fight for driver John Dunn, leading from start to finish.

Manners were definitely the key this evening as Lovetodream outstepped her fellow front markers. John was able to dictate the pace with little real pressure and at the 800m, the Bettor's Delight six year old still looked to have plenty to offer. A 27.2 quarter down the back started to break the spirits of a few and with the run home in a similarly quick 27.6, the task of the chasers was simply too tough.

After winning five races for former trainer Nigel McGrath, Lovetodream switched to the Robert Dunn stable mid year to take advantage of the beach surface. She has only had the one miss first up and appears to be peaking at the right time for the big mares races to be run at Addington in the New Year. Tonight's win was her seventh and takes her stake earnings to over the $61,000 mark.

The win was a welcome bit of better news for Shirley and Martin Cummings who sadly lost a wee mate in Bob overnight. Hopefully tonight's success will go some way towards lifting their spirits.
