Nevele R Fillies final features three stable representatives
While tonight's Nevele R fillies final looks to be dominated on the tote by Bettor Joy and Elle Mac, it will also see three stable runners chasing Group One glory. However, a tough race has become even tougher as all three have drawn poorly and will require plenty of luck to feature.
De Lancome (in photo) for the Neumanns' was a really good second last week, narrowly beaten, albeit in much weaker company. While poorly drawn at three on the second line, she may get a nice run through early, giving her the chance to nab some of the place spoils.
The Wendy Nordqvist owned Anytime has had little go right this time in. She draws the back of a favoured runner in Gold Orchid, but will need plenty of luck to feature.
Feel The Money, is the pride and joy of Westview Super Seventeen and the Witches Of Westview syndicates. She was a good winner down south last time, but from barrier nine, will need all the support of her many owners to feature.
Run over the 1950m,this does look to be an intriguing race, especially early on. From the ace Bettor Joy does look the hardest to beat and driver Dexter Dun does have options as whether to lead, or hand up. It may be that he holds up in front, parking the other favourite in Elle Mac and then look to out tough her later on.
Two year old trotter You Really Got Me was well supported at Rangiora, but broke when improving three wide at the 1200m. If he can replicate his excellent trial form tonight in Race Three, he can get a piece of this in the PGG Wrightson Listed Trot. Impressive debutante last week in Cheerful will start a sort priced favourite.
Hayden's Meddle and Every Option go around in Race Four. Hayden's Meddle went down narrowly at Rangiora to Hundie and is racing so well at present. He looks a great winning hope. Every Option enjoyed the drop-back at Rangiora and won well after leading. He faces a much tougher task this evening but can run into the money.
Bonnie Highlander is hopelessly off her best form at present and meets a very good field in the Listed Sires Stakes for the aged trotters. Were she to get away well tonight and kept her gait throughout, she could definitely run into the placings here.
There is no more in-form horse at present than Alta Orlando and he looks to make it four out of five when he takes on three year olds Sheriff and Pat's Delight in Race Seven. As good as the three year olds are, in the form that he is in at present, you would be brave to back against Alta Orlando.
While he is drawn poorly in Race Nine, in the form he is racing in, Billy Badger still looks the one to beat in Race Nine. With a pair of seconds behind Alta Orlando, he has been racing good fields and this if anything looks a drop-back for him. Overcoming the wide draw will be the biggest challenge for driver John tonight.
The final runner this evening is another for Westview in Tuapeka Trick. He comes back from the Southern Supremacy, a race that he had no luck in. This is an open field and he looks a bright winning prospect, particularly if he doesn't have to do too much work in the race.
