Stable return to successful stomping ground
Tomorrow is the first of the two day meet for the Nelson Harness. John heads north with a team of nine horses and looks to continue a good run on the course. For junior driver Matt Anderson it is a further opportunity to increase his lead in the junior drivers premiership.
The day kicks off nice and early for the stable with Onedin Express in the first. He will need to improve on his more recent efforts, but has drawn handily and will be driven positively by Matt Anderson. He is entitled to start at good odds.
Monkey Princess looked ok in three starts in the north and will have her first start in the south in Race Three. She is drawn well and on exposed form looks as well credentialled as any and looks sure to start a short-priced favourite. She appears a great each-way hope.
Wrangler has proven himself against some good fields at times in the north and is a recent trial winner. He is sure to derive benefit from the run, but on his best form would take a fair bit of holding out in Race Seven. He is another each-way hope.
Feel The Money and Tuapeka Trick are the Westview representatives in Race Eight and are both big chances. Feel The Money comes out of racing the best fillies at her last two, while Tuapeka Trick was a winner two back and got home well last time. Both have done a good job this season and appear each-way chances in one of the most open fields of the day.
Borntobeastar went off the last few before a spell, but was in good form before that. There is no doubting the ability and if she put it all together she would be a show here. Probably a placed run might be best first up in a big field though.
Every Option and Kensington Kate (in photo) are both good chances in Race Ten. Kensington Kate in particular looks the main danger to likely favourite in Saying Grace. Her's was a very good run last time at Rangiora and she is well due a win. Every Option is well mannered and fought well last time out. He is at least a place hope here.
Johnny White completes the runners in Race Eleven. He is well drawn and in form. He is one of the main hopes in another very even field and ran a good third in a fast run race last time out.
