Winning double for Tim Williams

Winning double for Tim Williams

It was a good night at Addington for Tim Williams who tasted success with the consistent Hayden's Meddle and impressive filly Nakuru.

There are few more consistent horses going around at the moment than Hayden's Meddle which was recording win six in his 40 start career. Drawn widest last night over the 1980m, he was obliged to go back early from his wide draw, slotting into a handy enough spot three back on the outer. When the pace slackened at the 1200m, he was off on a three wide run and up disputing the pace outside Pirate Bay from the 800m. Always looking to travel well, Hayden's Meddle quickly ran to the lead at the 200m and ran to the line too well for Pirate Bay and Stun Gun.

With 18 placings to his name also, Hayden's Meddle continues to do great things for his owners the Sparks and his stake-earnings are now up and over the $55,000 mark.

A few races later and Williams was again saluting the judge after an impressive win with three year old filly Nakuru that is now unbeaten in two starts. Taken back early from the wide draw, Nakuru was a clear last at the 1700m, but 200m later was quickly onto an improving three wide train. She breasted up outside pacemaker Christian Lady at the 1200m, before gaining cover on the back of Be Mine Tonight from the 1000m. After losing a couple of lengths at the 500m, she was asked to improve with her run cruising up three wide at the 200m. In what was a driving finish, she nutted pacemaker Christian Lady right on the line.

A Mach Three filly out of Christian Watch, Nakuru is a half sister to both Miss Daisy and Code Black that raced successfully out of the stable here, before heading to Australia, where they have continued to race well. If her first two race starts are any indication, then she has a big career ahead.

Tim's other stable drives for the night included: Johnny White - a nice third after leading; Captain Dolmio - 5th - beaten just over a length by stablemate Letspendanitetogetha; Huey Lewis - 4th - a nice run to be beaten half a length after sitting parked the last lap.
