There are just the four stable runners to go around at Addington tomorrow evening, but all appear well placed. Alta Maestro and Letspendanitetogetha will both go around in the night's free-for-all feature, a race that also features the return of Ultimate Machete.
The night's feature will see a small but select field of five go around. Alta Maestro and Letspendanitetogetha both appear well placed to get a big share of the prize.
There was plenty to like about the run of Alta Maestro at Addington on Show Day. On that occasion he was allowed to bide his time at the back before unleashing a powerful finishing burst over the last 200m. Gavin Smith gets the drive tomorrow and has a couple of options - unleash the horse early with the massive gatespeed that he had as a juvenile, or drive more conservatively saving him for that one at them. Either way and he is a massive chance.
Also a great chance is Letspendanitetogetha. Very good through the early spring, he was a respectable 9th in the NZ Cup, before a handy run for 6th in the Show Day free-for-all. He then followed these runs up with a good third behind AG's Whitesocks in the Methven Green Mile. He is another that can win the race if things panned out his way.
Huey Lewis kicks off our night in Race Three - The Show Day Futurity Consolation. He performed well in the Futurity proper running home for 5th. Last week at Addington he was a strong finishing third behind Court On The Edge after getting back and having to come wide with his run. With any luck here, he is again in the mixer big-time.
The final Addington runner is Kensington Kate in Race Six. She had no luck last week after a couple of great runs over Cup Week. The draw is again tricky, but with pace on she should be able to get a nice sit and get her chance.
