Huey Lewis back in the news

Huey Lewis back in the news

A late finisher for third last week, Huey Lewis was able to back up that performance at Addington this evening with a strong staying performance which saw him outlast the trailling runner Koromiko Eyre.

Well driven by Matt Anderson, Huey Lewis enjoyed a nice run one out and two back until the 1500m. As the pace eased appreciably at that point, Matt make the call to go forward to the breeze, a position that he held until the 700m. Able to then get the back of Jack's Shadow that had gone forward quickly three wide, Huey Lewis was pulled wide with his run from the 400m. He hit the lead at the 150m and was then very brave to outstay all challenges.

Tonight's victory was the second for Huey Lewis from just 11 race starts. Purchased for big money at the yearling sales, the now four year old does seem to be coming to it with more experience.

It was good to see Matt back in the winning way also, this being his third win from just the 19 drives this season.

Two races later and Matt combined with Kensington Kate to finish 5th. In a leader biased race she was well back from a wide draw throughout but finished on in a gap once clear.
