A big week for John and Jacob
This week is a huge one for the father and son pairing of John and Jacob Dunn. Last Sunday at Motukarara, John achieved his personal milestone with win 1000 of his career. Tomorrow night at Melton, Jacob will represent New Zealand in Mini Trot Inter-Dominion on Inter-Dominion Grand Final night.
One of New Zealand's very best reinsmen over the last decade, John brought up his 1000th winner driving Chief Of Staff for former employee and good mate, Jason Thomas.
In a career where he has been fortunate to drive a number of very good racehorses, John enjoyed success with a number of top horses, most notably champion filly Venus Serena and Franco Nelson, with which he was denied victory by a pencil-line in Adore Me's New Zealand Cup.
A key man in the Diamond Stables operation out of Woodend Beach, John is one of the really popular guys in the game and became the 25th New Zealand driver to surpass that mark.
John will be a Melton tomorrow evening for Inter-Dom grand final night, but not because he has a drive. Instead it will be one of those proud father moments as he travels to Melbourne to support his son Jacob.
One of the top drivers in the Kidz Kartz ranks over the past few seasons, Jacob will represent NZ Kidz Kartz along with Jordyn Bublitz, the winning driver in this year's NZ Kidz Kartz Cup.
Jacob will drive Just Cruisn after Race Two and Soul after Race Three.
We wish him and Jordyn all the best with their drives and are sure that you will do us proud.
