Kotare Yolande stamps herself as very good filly with win
There has never been any doubting the motor Kotare Yolande possesses. The question has been how long before the manners match up with the motor. Today at Geraldine, she put on an impeccable performance to win like a very good filly.
From the wide draw today, driver John Dunn took a cautious approach early, but heading out of the straight the first time, the pair were shunted five and six wide after tightening inside of them. John was then obliged to press forward, eventually finding the parked out spot after 700m. Once there, she settled beautifully. When the swoopers started to make their runs down the back, Kotare Yolande was allowed more rein and soon had the better of the pacemaker Rock N Joy turning in. After putting a couple of lengths on the chasers, she only needed to be kept up to her work in the run to the line to register a dominant win by one and a half lengths.
There is no doubt that this is a filly going places and with a lot better demeanour in general today, you could not help but be impressed. She looks sure to give her owners the Abells and Kotare Downs a lot more fun through the late summer and early autumn.
Also pleasing out of today's race was the improved run for third of stablemate Feel The Money. After getting back into in the running she received a good run into the race off the back. She loomed into it at the 200m and looked likely to run second, but peaked late on her run. She will have given a lot of heart to her big team of owners with that run and hopefully things are now back on track.
