Spellbound looks to bounce back in two year old Diamond

Westview filly Spellbound (in picture) will be looking to bounce back to form in tomorrow's two year old Diamond, courtesy of what looks a perfect draw from the inside barrier. She will not be lacking in support with her big entourage of Westview owners, including the Witches of Westview likely to turn up in large numbers.

Poorly drawn at her last start on the course in the Sales Pace, Spellbound went back early, before making a midrace move to eventually end up parked from the 1000m. It was evident a long way out that she was not at her best on that occasion and she battled into a well beaten sixth.

Driver John Dunn reports that after the initial concerns on the night, that the Art Major filly has quickly bounced back.

"We had the bloods done and she was definitely a bit off."

"Her work since then has been really good though and we will hopefully take advantage of the draw that we have come up with."

The Spellbound that we saw in her first three starts is certainly a filly of high class and deserves to be accorded the highest respect.

Her cause has been helped immeasurably with the two favourites Sweet On Me and Amazing Dream not fairing as well in the draw from barriers seven and ten respectively. However, they have proven themselves as class fillies throughout the season and look the biggest threats.

Spellbound's stablemate Tiffany Rose is a great chance in the race also. To again be driven by Blair Orange, Tiffany Rose was game in running second behind Amazing Dream on the track last time out. Drawn a bit awkwardly in barrier six, Tiffany Rose has proved her versatility throughout the season.

"She can lead, do it a bit tough, or come from off them if need be," said John.

Still a maiden she has raced in top fields in each of her seven starts and has yet to miss a cheque. With over $65,000 in the bank already, she is surely the best maiden going around at present. If the race turns into another staying test, look for her to be in the fight in the closing stages.

It is great to have two such high class fillies in the event and we wish the connections of both all the best of luck on the day.
