It looks a wet cold night for Addington

It is fast drawing towards the end of another very good season of racing. Tonight's Addington meet is the second last for that club for the season and despite the inclement weather features three stable runners.

The first of our runners for the night comes in Race Three with the very conistent Jay Tee Tyron (in picture). At his last start on the track a week ago, he was a strong third behind A Bettor Act, one of the finds of the winter months. The wide draw does potentially make things that much more difficult for him this evening, but he does appear to have a class edge over most here. Providing he gets that bit of luck you always require in the running, he is surely the one that they all have to beat.

Two races later, Race Five, we have the resuming Flashazz for team Westview and a debutante in Down To The Bone. A maiden race over the 1980m, this field is not a bad line-up.

Flashazz showed a bit last season and going by her two trial runs ahead of tonight, she has come back an improved horse. John's hope is that she can settle better in her races and be used more for one run at them this time, as she does possess that vital ingredient being speed. From a good draw tonight for pilot Tim Williams, she must be regarded as a good chance.

John will combine with the stablemate which is on debut, Down To The Bone. A two year old Bettor's Delight gelding out of Sirius Flight, Down To The Bone is impeccably bred, being a half brother to the well performed Timeless Perfection, Malak Uswaad and Red Moon Rising. Bought out of the 2018 sales under the name Assassin's Creed, it was an altercation with a fence and a nasty wound that led to the name change.

"He's bloody lucky to get to the races to be honest," said John.

"It was a real shame that he got injured when he did as he was shaping as one of my top two year olds."

A comfortable qualifier a fortnight ago, Down To The Bone was back at the Rangiora trials last week and ran a strong third behind Flashazz.

"He got home good and is improving all the time."

Like Flashazz, Down To The Bone gives the stable a strong hand in the race.

Best of luck to all the connections of horses involved tonight, especially if you brave the cool conditioins out at the track.
