Addington review

It was just one of those nights where we got close, but no cigar! The highlight of the night was no doubt Pres Da Belle in running second in the Group Three Summer Trotting Free-For-All after putting in a huge run.

Race One - Jay Tee Tyron

Missed the back of leader Taxman early, ending up in a three back spot rather than the trail. Looked to be travelling well at the 400m, denied a gap at the 200m, went to the line full of running in finishing 6th, with next up written all over him.

Race Three - Tyron's Bit Of Lemon and Cheddar Valley

The draws were always going to make it difficult and so it proved. Both runners were back second last and last before Cheddar Valley made a move at the 1000m giving Tyron's Bit Of Lemon a ride home. Cheddar Valley was pushed four wide at the 500m impeding the progress of Tyron's Bit Of Lemon. He ran on well for 5th once in the clear.

Race Four - Rocknroll King and Spot On

Rocknroll King in a fresh up state began well and led from the 2000m. Spot On raced parked before getting cover over the last lap. Pressured by the favourite Flying Even Bettor, Rocknroll King's condition gave out at the 200m, fading to finish 7th. Spot On did too much work early finishing 10th.

Race Five - Pres Da Belle and Valloria

From her wide draw, Pres Da Belle had an early dig for the lead but was unable to cross favourite Enhance Your Calm. Valloria stayed out of the early rush settling 6th on the outer. Continuing to pressure the favourite, Pres Da Belle finally crossed to lead at the 1000m, immediately being attended to her outside by Marcoola. Despite all the work that she had done, Pres Da Belle opened a gap on Marcoola at the 400m, the two looking to have the race to themselves. Headed by Marcoola at the 200m, the mare could be excused if she was all done, but kept kicking, measuring up to Marcoola again just short of the line, only to be bombed by Splash Cola which had the cold shot on them both.

Pres Da Belle's run was massive and deserved a better fate, going down a head in 2.25.8 for the 1980m. Valloria was down on his recent form on the night finishing well back.

Pres Da Belle, brave as in defeat behind Splash Cola

Race Six - Spellbound

Left the gate well but ended up parked as favourite Amazing Dream had too much toe to lead. Secured the one-one at the 1400m as Plutonium Lady progressed to a parked spot. After leaving that spot at the 1000m, to again progress to a parked spot, Spellbound inexplicably went off stride having to veer to the outside. After going right back to last, she made some ground in the straight but the damage had been done as she finished in 8th position. Her time will come nothing is surer!

Race Seven - Stars Tonight and Heisenberg

While Stars Tonight stayed out of the early rush, Heisenberg from out wide poured on the pressure early but after getting caught three wide early, took all of the first lap to cross to a parked position. His race was effectively all done at this point, particularly with the front running Jazzy Star never taking it's foot off the throttle. Stars Tonight started to find inside runs from the 600m, easing off the pegs at the 450m. He ran on well to finish 4th beaten just four lengths behind an impressive Another Masterpiece.

Race Ten - Soundslikeart

Enjoyed a nice run through from her second line draw, always travelled well, pulled wide turning in after following the favourite into it. Looked the winner at the 200m, but denied late by Steel The Show. Another really good run from the mare.
