Breeders Crown Elimination weekend
It is that time of year again, Breeders Crown elimination weekend, this year held at Harrah's Hoosier Park Indiana. Dexter has a big weekend ahead and warmed up for the weekend with three wins on the track this afternoon, including Fortify for Nancy Takter in 1.47.3.
Dexter has eight drives tomorrow, with the highlight of his day again combining with Party Girl Hill in Race Ten for the three year old fillies. Unbeaten in her 13 starts this season, Party Girl Hill has earned over $736,000 this season and is currently ranked second behind champion colt Tall Dark Stranger in the Horse of the Year standings. Drawn the widest barrier in the six horse field, Party Girl Hill looks set to start the shortest of favourites in the division that she dominates.
Dexter's day starts in Race Four, where he drives two year old pacing filly Fire Start Hanover for ex-pat NZer Nifty Norman. Drawn barrier one in a seven horse elimination, she looks set to start one of the favoured runners and is currently quoted at 5-2 in the early market. The winner of six of her nine starts this season, she looks a very good chance.
Two races later and Dexter again teams with Always A Miki for Nancy Takter in his elimination for the two year old colts and geldings. In a heat dominated by this season's unbeaten Perfect Sting, Always A Miki will be at generous odds, from barrier six in the eight horse field.
One race later and Dexter will drive the Jim Campbell trained Cricket Fashion in the elimination for the trotting two year old colts and geldings. The Muscle Hill colt has been in great form this season with the two wins and six placings from just the eight starts and will start as one of the favoured runners.
Dexter's drive in the first three year old trotting elim for the fillies is Spoiled Princess in Race Eleven for Nancy Takter. She has a consistent formline and is well drawn. She is a 9-2 chance in the pre-post market.
Dexter's next drive is New Year for Chris Ryder in Race Twelve, the second elim for the pacing fillies. She is another that has raced consistently well all year and has drawn well in an even line-up. She too has been posted as a 9-2 chance.
May Karp is Dexter's drive in Race Thirteen, for the two year old trotting fillies. She has drawn wide out in her nine horse elim, but has a good formline and rates as a 8-1 chance.
The final elim for the Breeders is Race Fourteen, Dexter will partner Caviart Eva in the elim for the three year old trotting fillies. She has won four of her eleven starts this season and from a nice draw looks good value at her 5-1 quote.
Following today's meet, Dexter had taken his winning drives for season to 304. He still holds a commanding lead over Tim Tetrick in the stake-earnings table.
