Dexter races for $3 million on Breeders Crown finals night

Our champion reinsman from Down Under scored his third Breeders Crown win last night at Harrah's Hoosier Park with 2yo filly Fire Start Hanover scoring  by the narrowest of margins. Trained by ex-pat NZer "Nifty" Norman, this win has set up a phenomenal weekend for Dexter who has an amazing book of drives on the second night of the Breeders Crown this evening (afternoon NZT). In total, Dexter's drives this evening race for over $3 million in stakes and boy does he have a great book of drives.

Race Eight - Manchego

The first of Dexter's big drives this evening is the champion trotting mare Manchego. She has had her issues this season, but a good run in a qualifier at the Meadowlands a couple of weeks ago, followed by a second on this track a week ago behind the great trotter Gimpanzee, suggest that she is peaking at the right time as she chases her third Breeders Crown for trainer Nancy Takter. From post seven, she will start either favourite or second favourite, dominating the market with the Ake Svanstedt trained Plunge Blue Chip. A mighty mare it will be great to see her combine with Dexter for consecutive wins in the Breeders after being so good at Mohawk last year.

Race Nine - Spoiled Princess

Here Dexter combines with another runner for Nancy Takter, in Spoiled Princess. You could not help but be impressed with her run last week. After getting a nice run early, she was first over to challenge from the quarter and up the long straight kept giving in a very good winning run. Dexter was impressed with the feel that she gave and in one of the more open Breeders Crowns she must be a great chance again, if she can replicate her recent performnaces.

Race Ten - Party Girl Hill

This champion filly has been unstoppable all season and a Breeders Crown win will be the jewel in the crown. She was outstanding in her elimination win last week and from a perfect draw today, barrier two, it looks like only bad luck will prevent her continuing a clean slate of wins. She can start a huge day on the right note for trainer Chris Ryder. She is certainly Dexter's gun drive for the day.

Race Eleven - Amigo Volo

Last season's Breeders Crown winner is back in his very best form. He led and dominated in his elimination last week and looked like he had plenty left in the tank, with the plugs still in. He is well drawn to get off the gate early and dominate the race. He offers another great opportunity on the night for Dexter and Nifty.

Race Twelve - Kissin In The Sand

The form mare in the open class ranks for the mares. She was super last week, looking Shartin in the eye from the quarter and then proving much to strong in the run to the line. From an even better draw this week, she looks set to land on the pace early and no doubt Dexter will have her ready to strike at the right time.

Race Thirteen - No Lou Zing

It was a nice run from him last week in his elimination, but what a field he strikes here. From post six, place chances are probably best for him. His stablemate is the champion colt Tall Dark Stranger and he looks to have this race at his mercy. Cattlewash was impressive last week and looks the other main chance.

Race Fifteen - Bettor's Wish

He has well and truly got his season back on track and has been quite impressive in his last few starts. He will have to overcome the wide draw, which on class alone he is capable of doing. It looks sure to be a hot pace in what will no doubt be a fantastic race. Hopefully he will give Dexter and Chris another huge feature race win.
